RUTLAND is dedicated to both interior and exterior spaces almost devoid of people one can find in Hitchcock’s movies. Its blacked out passages are references to the subtle and suggestive way Hitchcock represented the relationship between people and places.

#2 Burden of Proof

A surreal patchwork of close-ups and a tribute to the beauty of details to be found in Hitchcock’s oeuvre; the tape follows the tracks of motifs lengthwise and across the Hitchcock years.

#3 Derailed

DERAILED confronts the viewer (and the tape’s protagonist, a train passenger rocking in sleep) with a dark and dream-like imagery embedded in shots of locomotives, trains and moving machine parts – a monstrous dream factory that sets free haunting icons of human angst.

#4 Why Don’t You Love Me?

The tape presents a freak show, a gallery of Hitchcock’s monsters, villains and killers paying special attention to their dubious relation to their clinging and possessive mothers.

#5 Bedroom

In the seamless montage of BEDROOM a cruel psychodrama unfolds. Hitchcock’s appealing women find themselves exposed, locked in, stripped, bonded, tortured and eventually killed. The wholeness of the female body is being brutally smashed into split images of a body of parts.

#6 Necrologue

BEDROOM finds its continuation in the silence and frozen motion of a single shot of a woman in a state inbetween agony and apathy, dream and death.
